Steam Remote Play is a great way to enjoy your favorite PC games with friends and family. However, not all Steam games support the remote play feature. However, all of the recommendations mentioned in this list support Remote Play and work well with multiplayer activity.

Multiplayer for life? Steam has a great collection of multiplayer games for any gamer.

1. Cuphead

Genre: 2D Platformer

Price: $20

This indie title took the world by storm with its lovingly crafted hand-drawn graphics and refined gameplay. Don’t let the cartoonish art style fool you: Cuphead is tough and will take multiple tries to take down a boss or complete a level.

Cuphead

Cuphead has a two-player co-op, where a friend takes control of Mugman. This mode makes the ride a little safer, as you can be saved from death if your friend tags your ghost before it floats away. Just the level of painstaking effort that went into the hand-drawn animation and level design makes Cuphead one of the best indie games to try with your remote friend.

2. Overcooked! 2

Genre: Cooking Sim, Casual

Price: $25

Overcooked! 2 is a great upgrade to the already excellent team cooking game. You and your friends have to work together to prepare meals for patrons in chaotic kitchens across the world and outside. Join the fun using Steam Remote Play, with your friend in couch co-op or online multiplayer.

Overlooked! 2

Advanced levels will have you constructing meals in magic schools, mines, and on alien planets. You’ll have to grapple with shifting kitchens, teleporters, and disappearing fellow chefs. Overcooked! 2 takes a lot of teamwork and patience with one another, so be sure to bring your finest squad of chefs!

3. Gang Beasts

Genre: Beat ’em up, Funny

Price: $20

Gang Beasts will be a perfect option if you want something a little less cooperative. You have to be the last man standing, but it’s hardly ever that simple. Not only do you fight in very dangerous arenas, like moving trucks and sky-high construction rigs, but your character fights like a drunk person.

Gang Beasts

Despite its silly nature, however, Gang Beasts has surprisingly good combat between gelatinous characters, who you can punch, throw, or cling to for dear life, as you struggle to stay aboard a moving train or shipping containers. The physics that drives the game are just so much fun, that you and your friends won’t be able to step away.

4. A Way Out

Genre: Co-op, Action-Adventure, Story-driven, Split Screen

Price: $30

A Way Out is a unique co-op-only adventure from the creators of Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons. That may provide you with a picture of what the game would be like. You probably haven’t played a story like this before. As you take control of either Vincent or Leo in this prison break scenario, you’ll find plenty of teamwork, fighting, sneaking, and driving situations to keep things fresh.

A Way Out

When playing A Way Out with my brother, I quickly realized that this was one of the co-op games where the teamwork mechanic gelled all too well with the premise of the game. What I couldn’t see coming, however, was the ending of the story.

5. Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition

Genre: Tactical RPG, Turn-based strategy, Fantasy, Isometric

Price: $45

If you and your friend are into fantasy RPGs and have a ton of free time, Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition is a must-play title, using Steam Remote Play. You can team up in a group with up to four friends and explore the expertly crafted world of Rivellon with your party.

Divinity Original Sin 2

While there are excellent free RPG games to sink your teeth into, Divinity: Original Sin 2 will reward you for your investment. Plus, Steam Remote Play needs only one of you to buy the game. The game allows you to choose from six characters with separate backgrounds and quests.

Mastering the extensive turn-based combat, playing split-screen multiplayer, or creating your own stories – you’ll never run out of content in this isometric RPG.

6. It Takes Two

Genre: Co-op, Split Screen

Price: $40

It Takes Two is one of the best games to come out in recent years, thanks to its blend of unique co-op gameplay, emotionally gripping story and challenging yet engaging puzzles. This is a fascinating experience that you should ideally play with a friend or your partner, as the campaign will see the two of you overcome obstacles and hopefully bring you closer.

It Takes Two

You will play as dolls who become animated when their owners go through a divorce. The story unfolds, as a magical book guides the two of you along a challenging and rewarding journey of friendship, love, and companionship.

If the rest of the titles are a bit too complex for your non-gamer friends, Golf With Your Friends is bound to reel them in. It’s a fun, weird, mini golf game with support for up to 12 simultaneous players and makes full use of Steam Remote Play. Unlike the crawling pace of Golf, what you get here is a fast-paced, hilarious, and memorable experience.

 Golf With Your Friends

Even the courses in Golf With Your Friends have unique themes and exciting mechanics, making every hole filled to the brim with whimsy. Using powerups, you can wreck your friends’ game by trapping or freezing their balls. Beware, this game could test your friendships.

8. Stardew Valley

Genre: Farming Sim, Cozy RPG, Pixel art

Price: $15

If you love spending hours in the best farming games, then Stardew Valley may already be at the top of your list. This pixel-style farming sim is a global sensation, especially loved for its soothing gameplay and environments. You can do a lot of stuff other than tending to your farm: start a family, choose a profession, and become part of a community.

Stardew Valley

With Steam Remote Play, invite up to three friends to help you manage your farm and sell the produce. You can also level up your farming, fishing, mining, combat, and foraging skills, all while spending quality time in a relaxing world with your squad.

9. For the King

Genre: Tabletop RPG, Strategy, Roguelike

Price: $20

If regular RPG action is too boring for you, then For the King‘s interesting tabletop-inspired combat and rogue-lite mechanics could be just what you need. Every movement in For the King counts, so you and your friends need to ensure that you have the strategy in place to survive the punishing combat in every run.

For The King

You can brave the world of Fahrul on your own, but playing co-op with your friends is where you’ll truly get the most out of your experience. Fortunately, your hesitant friends can experience the game with you, using Steam Remote Play, before they decide to buy it for themselves.

10. Phasmophobia

Genre: Co-op, Horror, Ghost Investigation Sim

Price: $14

For a more offbeat and nerve-wracking experience with friends, Phasmophobia has everything you need to elicit sudden screams and terrified silences from your squad. The game puts you in various haunted locations, with tools to investigate paranormal activities that have been reported. Your job is to work together and identify the type of ghost lurking around as soon as possible, and get the hell out!

Phasmophobia

There are enough unique gameplay mechanics and challenges to make things interesting and scary at the same time. For instance, you need to verbally communicate with the resident ghost via your mic. Levels progressively get harder, and you’re free to spend your earned rewards on better equipment, so your ghost hunter band of friends is always prepared to take on the next haunting.
